We are not limited to Grade 12 guides nor to Literature studies alone as you will see when you click on The Next Page. Initially, our main focus was on writing study guides / workbooks for prescribed English literature. Wordweavers guides are ALL written with the following in mind: To help the learner to understand literature better. To assist the learner to appreciate the message of the writer and to critically evaluate it. To develop the reader’s cognitive ability through probing questions. To assist learners to manage their own learning better. Advantages of our Guides: The facility to write in the guide, using it as a workbook. This prevents loss of pages and the separation of activities and responses. Revision is made simple and convenient. Teachers can easily set homework, revision and group tasks and these can be peer-marked as the answers or suggested responses are in the rear of the guides. Examples of the type of question posed in assessments are provided for practice. There is a strong emphasis on vocabulary which is of benefit in other areas of English language study. Words from Wordweavers’ users: The guides are user-friendly. The tasks are so challenging and prepare the learners for the exams. It was easy for learners to engage with the issues, both short stories and poetry, because of the study guide tasks. We were excited to see similarities with the June question papers. The Home Language novel comments are so supportive, learners said these made reading the whole book easier. Good work on Hamlet. We usually use guides after the book. We changed to using both simultaneously. Finally, the structure of the tasks encourages deep engagement with content and trains candidates to be familiar with higher level questions. Thanks. Phindine Mkonyane, former Subject Adviser As a lecturer I found that the Wordweavers publications were invaluable aids to the teaching of English set works. Written in an accessible style, they cover all the essential aspects that students need to pass their examinations. Professor Dennis Schauffer, Trainer The study guides that Wordweavers have compiled are incredibly helpful. Our students have felt empowered through understanding and thereby equipped to tackle their exams with so much more confidence. This is a great resource.
